As the official charity for London Fashion Week Men’s, male cancer awareness charity One For The Boys will kick off the week’s events with their renowned Fashion Ball.

The One For The Boys Fashion Ball will take place this year on Friday 9 June at the iconic Landmark London hotel, featuring an evening of entertainment, food and tributes to raise awareness of male cancers and funds to educate men about the risks they face.

Opening London Fashion Week’s Men, the annual Fashion Ball will feature performances from singer songwriter artist Pixie Lott, Platinum selling Leona Lewis and Grammy award-winning rapper Eve.

One For The Boys encourages a change in male attitudes towards their health by engaging men through their interests - such as fashion, sport, music, and more - to educate them about the signs and symptoms to look out for and to act quickly and speak up if something is wrong.

The Fashion Ball will begin with an elegant Moet and Chandon reception, and you might also spot some special guests turning up to the Fashion Ball in unrivalled style, as McLaren team up with One For The Boys as the official car partner.After the Fashion Ball draws to a close, the entertainment will continue as guests enjoy a special Post-Celebration at the iconic British luxury store Asprey, with Tempus Magazine and Belvedere Vodka. Guests will be able to dance the night away to DJ sets from the hit-making DJ Fresh, who has been vocal about his own recent battle with cancer, and models/DJs Daisy Lowe and Amber Le Bon.

The One For The Boys Fashion Ball is the precursor to the charity’s launch of their pop-up clinic, The Waiting Room. Presented by BGC Partners, The Waiting Room will be open from Monday 12th to Wednesday 14th June, in Canary Wharf, providing education for men while also being the ultimate men’s retreat - featuring games, boys toys, relaxation, refreshments, and more.

This is about starting a conversation and making guys think twice.”

One For The Boys raises awareness and educates men about male cancer by organising events, activities and campaigns that reach men through the things they’re interested in, whether that’s music, fashion, comedy, sport.

The charity calls on men to prioritise their health and change the way they think about their bodies. Nearly twice as many men as women avoid seeking medical help and even though more women get cancer than men, more men are dying from it - it’s time for a much needed change for men everywhere.

The Waiting Room pop-up comes to London’s Canary Wharf to raise awareness of male cancers

LONDON -- June 1, 2017 -- One For The Boys, a UK charity dedicated to building awareness around male cancers, will host a luxury pop-up haven for guys, called The Waiting Room, this June in London to educate them about male cancers.

Presented by BGC Partners, The Waiting Room will open its doors on Monday 12th until Wednesday 14th June in Canary Wharf. The space will recreate a doctor’s waiting room disguised as the ultimate men’s retreat to reach guys through their hobbies and interests, while educating them about the symptoms of cancer and dangers of waiting to seek medical help. 

Visitors to The Waiting Room can take a break from their day by competing in the games room fully equipped with a VR space, FIFA Xbox and a streetfighter match station courtesy of Fnatic, grab a coffee from Lavazza or water from Fiji Water, sip some refreshments from Bottle Green, get their shoes shined, sit back and relax for a massage or check out the McLaren parked outside. Once they’re comfortable in their surroundings cancer specialists and nurses will be on hand to answer questions, offer advice and share knowledge on the early symptoms and signs that men should look out for.

According to NHS Choices, prostate cancer is most common cancer for men in the UK, with over 40,000 cases diagnosed every year in the UK.  But men can also be affected by many other types of cancers, including lung cancer, bowel cancer and even breast cancer.

So we need to bust the myths and change their attitudes towards their health. We want them to love their life enough to love their health.”
